StartupJobList uses publicly posted job listings from Hacker News’ “Who is Hiring” threads. You can browse without creating an account. Public research reports present aggregate findings; legacy job pages link to their original public posts.

Advertising inquiries

When you submit the advertising form, we process your name, email address, company, optional website, requested placement, budget and campaign note to review your inquiry and reply. The inquiry is passed to our email service. A successful form response means the mail service accepted it, not confirmation that it reached a mailbox. We do not include your IP address in the inquiry email.

We use a session cookie to keep forms usable and prevent duplicate submissions. Form identities are valid for up to two hours; confirmed submission identities can be recognized on retry for up to 24 hours. Expired identities are removed on the next advertising-form request. The hosting service manages session-file cleanup separately.

To limit spam, we store a hash of the connecting IP address together with submission identifiers and timestamps. These hashes are pseudonymous, not anonymous. Rate-limit entries count for up to 24 hours and are removed when the rate-limit state is next maintained. We do not promise that hosting logs, session files or inquiry emails are physically deleted after that period.

Our hosting and email providers may process technical request and delivery information. Their retention follows their configuration. We do not sell submitted inquiry information.

Public listings and outbound links

Job data is derived from public comments. If you posted a listing and want it removed, contact us and we will take it down. Outbound application links carry a referral parameter so employers know the click came from StartupJobList; the destination site handles information you provide there.

This page describes the application’s current data handling. It does not promise a retention period for a provider’s logs or our inquiry mailbox.

We use Umami to measure page views, clicks on application links, and successful advertising enquiries. We do not send application details or advertising form contents to Umami. Analytics requests go to analytics.i.pirate.builders.
